In a quest for developing scientific rigor and a humanitarian approach, the field visit to Jupiter Hospital Thane was a significant learning experience for the students. The visit spanned various departments of the hospital including the Simulation Lab- where demonstrations were showing functioning of the ICU were included, the Engineering department that is the backbone of the whole hospital ensuring consistent power supply, the ECG and Stress Test Unit, the dialysis section , the X Ray section and the unique Neuro-Rehab Centre which is a state of art Centre one of its kind in the whole of South East Asia that caters to neurological rehabilitation in patients with stroke, dementia and other neurological concerns.

In addition to the visit to the departments the insightful exchanges that happened between the doctors, tech personnel and heads and the students were remarkable and added immense value to the whole excursion. After the visit the students expressed that their perception of hospital was quite limited to patient doctor relationships and clinical interventions but now it had expanded to to understand the multiple sections that work together to make the hospital function. The visit facilitated curious questioning and sensitive attitudes being built among students for sure!
