The IBDP Year 2 students collaborated and organised the school’s first ever TEDxYouth@singhaniaschool on 24th and 25th July. A TEDxYouth event is a suite of carefully prepared talks organised by the youth and for the youth,which cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter. The theme for the first virtual TEDxYouth@singhaniaschool event was- ‘Take a moment and think’. The audience got to listen to a diversity of voices from many disciplines. The vast repertoire of speakers, the youngest aged only 12 years,came from varied backgrounds like medicine, sports, social activism, content creation and business.

This unique, student- driven event was a resounding success, as it was able to connect the community through compelling discourse, thought-provoking concepts, and novel ideas. The audience were enlightened to hear from young entrepreneurs, a film director, human rights activist, doctor, social media influencer, motivational speaker, researcher, and a television host too.

Since the event was oriented towards the youth, it saw dynamic young speakers taking center stage. Mr. Arjun Deshpande runs a successful pharmaceutical business venture- ‘Generic Aadhar’, at the mere age of 19. Lakshay Jain is a 17 year old mentor and tech entrepreneur, whereas Mr. Arnay Agarwal is a 12 year old entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and a life coach.

The audience members were also entertained through mesmerising performances given by the students in the form of singing, art and dance. The students of the IBDP section got to hone various life skills like self-management, communication and planning. Through organising this event, they learnt valuable lessons like accepting responsibility, taking risks, working under pressure, problem solving, managing their time effectively to balance academics with extracurricular activities, and applying their skill sets in a real world context.

The goal of the event had been to spark a dialogue, and the captivating talks did ignite new thoughts and ideas in the minds of people.
