Holi celebrations in the spirit of collaboration

Mar 22, 2024

The Singhania IBDP students celebrated Holi in the true spirit of collaboration between all the CAS Clubs. The collaboration of the environment club AMET and Science club COSMOS clubs resulted in the creation of completely eco-friendly colours. Utilizing cornstarch as a main ingredient, the clubs crafted vibrant red, pink, blue, yellow, and orange hues, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and creativity. With stringent safety measures in place, the colours were mixed, dried, and packaged in butter paper made by the students themselves, ensuring minimal environmental impact from production to disposal.

Additionally, in order to demonstrate the harmful nature of the synthetic holi colours and promote the use of eco-friendly ones, the COSMOS club performed hands-on science experiments to enlighten the cohort and the teachers on the hazardous chemicals present in those colours. This was achieved by a flame test where a clear distinction was made between the chemical nature of the synthetic and eco-friendly colours.

The literary club Belle Lettre organised poetry recitation on the theme of Holi and significance of colours. The art and photography club organised a photography exhibition wherein the participants showcased their photography skills on the theme of colours in and around them.

This initiative served as a commendable example of student collaboration and enterprise.
